In November 1982 some animal bones were spotted on the gravel
contractor's conveyor belt. They had come from the very bottom of the current gravel seam.
We were loaned the bones to record and photograph and they were later passed on by the gravel company
to a palaeontologist for analysis.
These bones and the Loft's Farm site are described by D. R. Bridgland in a 1994 publication Quaternary of the Thames (starting on page 376)
