Features in field LFF produced what at the time was the third largest collection of Middle Neolithic pottery in Essex.
All the proven early prehistoric features came from a relatively small area in field LFF.
LFF1 - Thirty metres of a straight ditch produced Middle Neolithic pottery and flints.
LFF5 - A pit close to the alignment of LFF1 produced many sherds of one Middle Neolithic pot.
LFF6 - Small pit with bone fragments - A possible cremation without dateable finds.
LFF7 - Although less than 5 metres from LFF1 & LFF5 this produced Bronze Age pottery.
LFF24 - Small pit that produced early neolithic pottery and flint.
LFF17 - A prehistoric container pit which is described separately. It did not produce any dateable finds but is suspected to be early.
LFF16 - Large curving ditch-like feature deep in the gravel - unexcavated and no finds. It looked too regular to be a natural feature.
